Future Freight Networks : Yearbook 2017
57 FUTURE FREIGHT NETWORKS 2017 ALC COMMUNICATIONS • Speech and presentation to the Online Retail Logistics Conference, 11 October 2016 • Presentation to the Logan City Transport and Logistics Lunch, 13 October 2016 • Opening Speech to the ALC Diversity & Inclusion Summit, 11 November 2016 MEDIA RELEASES AND MENTIONS Public awareness and support are critical parts of meeting the challenges that Australia faces to ensure that our supply chain is as efficient and as safe as possible. Ultimately, greater public understanding and appreciation of our industry will make it easier for politicians to make the difficult but necessary decisions needed to support a more efficient supply chain. It also makes it less likely that they will appease noisy regional or sectional interests by investing in projects that should have low priority. Throughout 2016, ALC devoted considerable effort to improving public knowledge of the importance of the supply chain. ALC issued an average of almost one media release a week in 2016, directly resulting in about three media mentions per week, ranging from significant in- depth press and broadcast appearances to mentions in industry publications, which also help to keep awareness of ALC and the logistics industry high. The 41 media releases on pages 58–59 were targeted at national, regional and local levels. The resulting 154 media mentions are listed on pages 59–62. Woolworths Group Supply Chain is proud to be a supporting partner of the Australian Logistics Council. Supply Chain 501923A_Woolies I 2318.indd 1 3/4/17 10:23 am
