24 COMPANY PROFILE X COMPANY PROFILE BMD is a national group of companies engaged in engineering design, construction and land development for clients and partners in the urban development, transport infrastructure, and resources and energy sectors. Since 1979, BMD has employed a relationship-based business model founded on certainty, collaboration and performance. With more than 1700 staff members throughout Australia, BMD has the resources and experience to deliver projects ranging in size from $1 million to more than $1 billion. The BMD group of companies includes the wholly owned subsidiaries of BMD Constructions, BMD Urban, Empower Engineers & Project Managers (formerly BMD Consulting), JMac Constructions and Urbex. BMD has offices located across Australia, including its newest office in Perth, which opened in 2014. BMD’s broad geographic footprint and expansion into new capabilities has positioned the company as a major player in the national construction and property industry. Due to repeat business with a number of clients and its diversification strategy, BMD continues to grow an assorted portfolio of projects. Across Australia, BMD’s projects include the $1.5 billion Legacy Way completed in 2015 in Brisbane; the $9 million Third Avenue Bridge replacement in Western Australia; and works as Managing Contractor on the Tiger Brennan Drive Duplication in the Northern Territory. Since 1979, BMD has delivered some of Australia’s most significant projects for its transport and logistics clients across ports, rail, air, roads and highways. With more than 12 years of consecutive experience delivering infrastructure projects for Brisbane Airport Corporation, including the $50 million New Parallel Runway Civil Works project, BMD used its airport infrastructure capabilities to successfully deliver Busselton Airport’s apron expansion for the Western Australian team’s first project. BMD understands the complexities, security requirements and logistics of working within defence facilities and airports, as proven through the successful delivery of projects for the Department of Defence, including the $44 million Lavarack Barracks Civil Works in Townsville and the $26 million RAAF Edinburgh Redevelopment Stage 2 in South Australia. Rail also continues to be an area in which BMD has repeatedly proven its capability, completing the $86 million Robinson Road Open Level Crossing replacement in 2014. Renowned for world-class infrastructure, BMD has been consistently recognised by national and international industry organisations, receiving a number of prestigious awards, including the Civil Contractors Federation’s 2014 Earth Award to the Cairns Connect Joint Venture for the design and construction of the Bruce Highway Upgrade and the 2015 Infrastructure Partnerships Australia Project of the Year award for Legacy Way. BMD is proud of the longstanding relationships and affiliations with numerous state, national and industry groups including Roads Australia, Engineers Australia and the Civil Contractors Federation.
